OBJECTIVE: Anti-modified protein antibodies (AMPA) are central in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Introduction: Cell biology studies, animal models and other data suggest a role for sirtuin-1 in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We hypothesized the clinical significance of serum sirtuin-1 in this disease.Methods: Serum was obtained from 141 RA patients, 144 non-RA patients and 88 healthy controls. PURPOSE: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the rheumatic profile in acromegalic patients to better characterize joint pain.

Tumors deficient in the urea cycle enzymes argininosuccinate synthase-1 (ASS1) and ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC) are unable to synthesize arginine and can be targeted using arginine-deprivation therapy.
