Seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR) is the main form of rhinitis in children whereas in adults it accounts for about a third of cases of rhinitis. Mast cells are tissue-resident allergic effector cells that cause many symptoms associated with IgE-mediated immediate hypersensitivity reactions.
