OBJECTIVE: To describe the presenting symptoms, outcomes, and time to diagnosis of ehrlichiosis cases treated at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Florida.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis of all patients with ehrlichiosis who were treated at Mayo Clinic in Florida from January 1, 2018, to November 1, 2021. Ehrlichiosis was diagnosed via positive serologic or polymerase chain reaction tests. Abstracted variables included patient demographic characteristics, presenting symptoms, outcomes, and time to diagnosis.

OBJECTIVE: To analyse the financial costs from sports injuries among inpatients and emergency department (ED) patients aged 5-18 with a focus on Medicaid patients.
METHODS: Fixed-effects linear regression was used to assess the association of patient factors with cost of injury from sports. Florida Agency for Health Care Administration data from 2010 to 2014 were used, which included all inpatient and ED patients aged 5-18 years who had a sports injury.

Squamous cell carcinoma of the supraglottic larynx is treated primarily by conservation surgery or radiotherapy for early to moderately advanced lesions, and total laryngectomy, with or without irradiation, for advanced tumors. This article reviews the role of radiotherapy, used alone or in combination with surgery, for squamous cell carcinoma of the supraglottic larynx. Treatment philosophy, techniques, and results from the University of Florida are emphasized.

We formally describe the association of fishes and anthozoans in epipelagic waters, extending this relationship to beyond the benthos. In situ observations and photographs of Aluterus schoepfii, Ariomma regulus, Caranx cf. latus and Brama spp. swimming alongside or holding larval tube anemones (Cerianthidae and Arachnactidae) and larval zoanthids (Sphenopidae) were made during blackwater SCUBA dives off Palm Beach, Florida, USA, and off Punaauia, Tahiti, French Polynesia. We report and illustrate the behaviour of these interactions, and suggest an advantage for the anthozoans.

This research letter compared the prevalence of qualifying conditions among patients certified to use medical cannabis in Florida to population-based prevalence estimates for the same conditions and observed marked discrepancies. These findings highlight conditions that appear to be significant reasons for patients to consider medical cannabis, providing important research priorities for future research on its effectiveness and safety.

Between 1980 and 1982, 8 children with congenital arachnoid cysts were treated at the University of Florida, 2 patients presented with unusual clinical syndromes, including isosexual precocity and a cephalic movement disorder. Cystoperitoneal shunting in combination with ventriculoperitoneal shunting for associated hydrocephalus was employed in the treatment of all supratentorial lesions, and proved to be a safe, efficacious mode of therapy.

Phialophora verrucosa and Cladosporium cladosporioides were isolated from a corneal ulcer. The lesion had been previously treated with antivirals and steroids and did not respond to Pimaricin therapy or conjunctival flap. A penetrating keratoplasty was performed with good functional and optical results. Chromomycosis of the cornea is an unusual infection. This is the second case of Phialophora in Florida and the first case of Cladosporium infection.

This study uses a discrete choice experiment to estimate Florida homeowners' willingness to pay (WTP) for stormwater pond ecosystem services and landscape attributes. Using data from 1237 homeowner association residents, we find positive WTP for ecosystem services and higher planting diversity.
