Three members of a family in two generations with proximal jejunal atresia and renal dysplasia are described. This association is presumably an autosomal dominant condition.

The work analyses the experience in examination and treatment of 31 patients with late-term complications after operations for various types of acute and chronic high congenital ileus. Five groups of children were set apart according to the character and anatomical cause of the complication. The characteristics of late-term complications, their clinical manifestations, and methods of repeated surgical interventions are given. The most difficult for treatment were complications which had developed after creation during the primary operation of gastroentero-anastomoses for an annular pancreas (5

We report a case of colon atresia diagnosed pre-natally at 32 weeks' gestation. The fetal transverse colon was dilated. Complete atresia of the middle transverse colon was confirmed after birth. Small bowel dilatation (and clinical obstruction) did not develop until after 24 h of age.

The case of a female baby with microgastria, duodenal atresia, asplenia, hydrocephalus and many other anomalies is reported. She underwent repair of the duodenal atresia at the age of 3 days and died of sepsis at the age of 5 months. Twenty-nine cases of microgastria found reported in the literature are reviewed.

Clinico-experimental data on using the microvascular technique in plastic operations on the esophagus are described. Experiments in puppies have revealed specific features of the surgical technique, the morphology of intestinal grafts and their taking under conditions of growing organism. The microvascular technique was used in 3 patients. In 2 patients additional nutrition of the grafts was performed, in 1 patient free transplantation of small intestine grafts to the cervical and thoracic parts of the esophagus was fulfilled. Results were good.

BACKGROUND: Minimal access surgery (MAS) has gained popularity in infants less than 5kg, however, significant challenges still arise in very low weight infants.
STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective chart review was performed to identify all infants weighing less than 3kg who underwent an advanced MAS or equivalent open procedure from 2009 to 2016. Advanced case types included Nissen fundoplication, duodenal atresia repair, Ladd procedure, congenital diaphragmatic hernia repair, esophageal atresia/tracheoesophageal fistula repair, diaphragmatic plication, and pyloric atresia repair. A comparative ana

Duodenal anomalies represent a spectrum of congenital malformations that may present with similar clinical and radiological findings. We report a rare case of a congenital duodenal band mimicking duodenal atresia in a neonate. A primigravida woman in her 20s presented with polyhydramnios and suspected fetal duodenal atresia on antenatal ultrasound. Postnatally, the male child exhibited a double bubble sign on abdominal X-ray. Exploratory laparotomy revealed a duodenal band compressing the second part of the duodenum without intrinsic atresia or web. The band was released, and the infant recove

PURPOSE: The usefulness of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) in pediatric populations has been recently appreciated; however, published studies on mini-probe EUS in the diagnosis of congenital esophageal stenosis (CES) or congenital duodenal stenosis (CDS) in pre-school patients remain scarce. This study aimed to report the utility of mini-probe EUS for the diagnosis of CES or CDS in pre-school patients based on the etiology.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of pediatric patients with CES or CDS who underwent mini-probe EUS through the stenotic segments at our hospital betwe

Introduction: Acinar cystic transformation (ACT) of the pancreas is characterized by multiple cysts lined by dual ductal and acinar-type of epithelium. ACT is typically a disease of adulthood and has not been described in a neonate. Case report: Autopsy of this term 3-day old male demonstrated cystic transformation of the entire pancreas measuring 42 mm in its largest dimension. The main pancreatic duct was patent. The numerous variable-sized cysts were lined by both ductal (CK7-positive) and acinar (trypsin-positive) epithelium. Congenital hemochromatosis of the liver, complete proximal jejun

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy of gastroscopic treatment in the treatment of membranous duodenal stenosis.
METHODS: We performed a retrospective study of 6 patients with membranous duodenal stenosis, aging from 7days to 37months, who underwent gastroscopic balloon dilatation in a children's hospital between January 2012 and December 2013. All surgical procedures of balloon dilatation were performed under direct gastroscopic vision. The balloon dilators with diameter 8mm and 10mm for neonates and children aged over one month, respectively, were placed through the foramen of the membran
