CONTEXT: Safe and effective strategies to curb rising obesity prevalence rates are urgently needed and medications may play a more prominent role in future therapeutic regimens.
OBJECTIVE: To review systematically the long-term efficacy and safety of approved antiobesity medications.
DATA SOURCES: MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Controlled Trials Register, Current Science Meta-register of Controlled Trials, and reference lists of original studies and reviews were searched. Drug manufacturers and two obesity experts were contacted. No language restrictions were imposed.

Forty horses having microfilariae of Onchocerca cervicalis in association with dermatitis, alopecia, and pruritus on the ventral midline were given a single IM injection of 0.2 mg of ivermectin/kg of body weight (June to August 1981). The anthelmintic efficacy of ivermectin administered by subcutaneous (SC) injection or orally via the drinking water was investigated in feeder pigs naturally infected with Ascaris suum and Trichuris suis. Two acetoacetylated derivatives of Mycobacterium leprae with variable hapten groups and a conjugate with tetanus toxoid were prepared. These were tested as antigens along with unmodified M. leprae in the leucocyte migration inhibition response of leucocytes from clinically, bacteriologically and histopathologically confirmed cases of lepromatous leprosy. LMI response was poor with M. leprae, but was significantly enhanced with acetoacetylated M. leprae.

Salinity stress is a major constraint affecting pomegranate productivity and fruit quality. This study evaluated the effects of strigolactone (SL) at 15 and 30 μM on alleviating salinity stress and improving fruit yield and quality in pomegranate trees over two consecutive seasons. In this manuscript, three components of lignocellulosic biomass were obtained by deconstructing bamboo with γ-valerolactone-H2O biphasic system, and the delignification rate of 80.92 % was achieved at 120 °C for 90 min.
