After sacrectomy, mobilization of the patient is only possible if a stable connection between the spine and pelvis can be obtained. We have developed an instrumentation to fix the pelvis to the spine. Two DHS screws connected to each other were implanted in the pelvis (one DHS screw into each ilium). An internal spine fixator, anchored in L3 and L4 through transpedicular Schanz screws, was attached to these DHS screws. Two patients were stabilized with this implant after sacrectomy. One patient was able to walk with crutches; the other patient was able to walk even without crutches.

Seventy-five patients with histologically confirmed abnormalities of the facial skeleton and pharynx, including the mouth and base of the tongue, were examined by computer tomography. The advantages of simultaneous demonstration of the soft tissues and bones in localised space-occupying lesions are pointed out. Accurate comparison between pre-operative descriptions and findings at operation in 30 cases showed high diagnostic accuracy. Conventional, multi-dimensional film tomography is being increasingly replaced by computer tomography.

A free fibular flap is commonly used in adult mandibular reconstruction; however, its use in the pediatric population is not strongly supported. In this review, we highlight the complexities of the natural history, biology, and clinical management of three intermediate connective tissue tumors: desmoid tumor (DT) or aggressive fibromatosis, tenosynovial giant cell tumor (TGCT) or diffuse-type pigmented villonodular synovitis (dtPVNS), and giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB). Giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath (GCTTS) is one of the most common benign soft tissue tumors in the extremities, and is frequently associated with bone abnormalities. Although extrinsic bone erosion is the most common bone abnormality associated with GCTTS, intraosseous invasion of GCTTS occurs rarely and may mimic a primary bone tumor, making diagnosis more challenging. We report an unusual imaging presentation of GCTTS mimicking a primary intramedullary metatarsal tumor and review the literature on the frequency of bone involvement of GCTTS.
