We report the case of a 42 year-old man, with a history of alcohol and tobacco abuse, who was referred for suspicion of carcinoma of the head of pancreas. Pancreatoduodenectomy was performed. Histological study demonstrated obstructive benign adenomyoma of the distal common bile duct associated with villous papillomatosis of the pancreatic ducts and patchy lesions of chronic pancreatitis. Two years later, the patient was completely asymptomatic, but the risk of malignant transformation of villous papillomatosis requires periodic examination of the remaining pancreas and biliary tract.

A case of multiple inverted papillomas of both ureters, in association with a bladder carcinoma, is presented. Inverted papilloma is a rare benign urothelial tumor. Because of its curability by conservative surgery, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a ureteral filling defect and ureteral obstruction. Inverted papilloma may be associated with carcinomas of the urinary tract.

A case of a female patient with bladder leiomyoma associated to uterus containing several leiomyomatous nodules and polycystic ovaries is presented. The diagnostic convenience that ecography can provide, showing neoformations and their definition with regard to neighbouring organic structures, is highlighted. The existing relationship between uterine leiomyomas and estrogens is outlined, as well as the action of GnRH agonists on such leiomyomas after long-term therapy.

Pelvic lipomatosis is a rare disease which may cause obstructive uropathy. It has been reported with cystitis cystica and cystitis glandularis. Cystitis cystica and cystitis glandularis have been reported previously as progressing to adenocarcinoma of the bladder. The first reported case of pelvic lipomatosis, cystitis cystica, cystitis glandularis and adenocarcinoma of the bladder is presented and the literature reviewed.

Candidates for partial nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma include those with (1) bilateral synchronous lesions, (2) tumour in a solitary kidney and (3) renal mass and borderline renal function. We describe here the radiographic findings in a patient with multiple synchronous squamous carcinomas of the esophagus with a large metastasis to the gastric cardia. Radiographic documentation of this constellation of tumor involvement has not previously been reported. The mechanisms of esophageal metastasis are reviewed.

A five-year-old girl had congenital central hypoventilation syndrome and mediastinal and adrenal tumors. The mediastinal mass was though to be present, retrospectively, for at least four years prior to surgery. Pathology of the excised tumors revealed benign ganglioneuromas. This is the first case reported of an association between CCHS and multiple ganglioneuromas. This suggests that CCHS, like neural crest tumors, may result from maldevelopment of the embryonic neural crest.

In three patients with lymphangioma of the small intestine, the preoperative diagnosis of lymphangioma was made by endoscopy with biopsy and radiology. A typical endoscopic finding was an elevated polypoid tumor, yellowish-white to tan. The surface was smooth, often with white specks, and could be impressed by touching lightly with biopsy forceps. We report 2 cases of inverted urothelial papilloma of the ureter. The second case demonstrates inverted papilloma and papillary transitional cell carcinoma in a single polypoid lesion. Conservative therapy was performed and a follow-up 12 months later shows no evidence of recurrences.

A case report of mixed prostatic carcinoma metastasizing to the penis is presented. A review of the literature revealed only 55 cases of prostatic carcinoma metastasizing to the penis report to date. To the best of our knowledge, no such unusual case has been reported before.

This is a case report of an adrenal myelolipoma, accidentally diagnosed during a work-up for bladder tumor. A 67-year-old male presented with the chief complaint of gross hematuria. He was subsequently diagnosed as having a bladder tumor, which was resected transurethrally and was found to be a transitional cell carcinoma of Grade 2 and Stage pT2. During further examination for metastasis computed tomography (CT) scan revealed a round tumor (approximately 5 cm in diameter) in the left adrenal. A tentative diagnosis was reached based on the scan, and surgery was undertaken to remove the tumor.

The results of a clinical study of 42 cases of synchronous endometrial and ovarian tumors are discussed. Clinical manifestations of synchronous cancer were found to be similar to those of endometrial carcinoma. Postmenopausal patients showed a favorable course of tumor process, thus suggesting its primary multiple origin, slightly more frequently than reproductive or climacteric females. As far as the findings on the distant end results went, multiple lesions should not be regarded as an indisputably unfavorable factor of prognosis.

Three cases are reported in which an osteosarcoma developed in relation to an enchondroma in a long bone. Two of the cases were in the proximal femur whilst one occurred in the proximal humerus, both recognised sites for old calcified enchondromas or "cartilage rests". The ages of the patients at presentation were 55, 63 and 84 years and all were women. Two patients died with pulmonary metastases within six months of the onset of clinical symptoms.
