METHODS: One hundred and thirty-nine cases were randomly divided into 2 groups, electroacupuncture group (n=70) and TENS group (n=69). Experience with the use of the Universal Subcutaneous Endoscope (USE) system in surgical treatment of cubital tunnel syndrome in 35 patients is reported. Patients included in the study had pre- and postoperative clinical and electrophysiological data, and had undergone a minimum follow-up period of 13 months. The purpose of this work was to evaluate the efficacy of oncotic colpocytology stained with Harris-Shorr in the identification of the cervicovaginal microflora and infectious agents. Results of microbiologic evaluation carried out in colpocytology exams, bacterioscopy (Gram), and direct exams of 2,017 women aged from 13 to 80 years were compared. PURPOSE: To evaluate structural and functional outcomes in one-year old patients, treated for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) with transpupillary diode laser photocoagulation.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: 58 children (116 eyes) 12 months old, after treatment for ROP with diode laser photocoagulation, were examined. OBJECTIVE: To observe the therapeutic effect and prognosis of wrist-ankle acupuncture for treatment of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia.
METHODS: Ninety-five cases of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia were randomly divided into a wrist-ankle acupuncture group (n = 55) and a control group (n = 40). The treatment group were treated with acupuncture at the points, Wanshang No. 1 and 2, and the control group with oral administration of diltiazem. Gallstone ileus is an uncommon form of bowel obstruction, related in the majority of cases to a cholecystoenteric fistula. In patients with Crohn's disease the stone can obstruct the diseased bowel. We report a case of gallstone ileus in a patient with Crohn's disease. An explorative laparoscopy and a minimally-invasive laparotomy were achieved to resolve the obstruction. A 57-year-old woman with a six-year history of Graves' Disease with ophthalmopathy developed unilateral periorbital swelling. CT scan suggested a lacrimal mass. Biopsy revealed MALT lymphoma. Evaluation for other sites of lymphoma revealed no other evidence of disease. She was treated with radiation therapy only with complete disappearance of disease. This is the first known case of MALT lymphoma arising in Graves' ophthalmopathy.
