BACKGROUND: We compared T1- and T2-weighted signal intensities of liver-specific (gadoxetate, gadobenate) and non-specific (gadoterate) gadolinium contrast agents (CAs) in a bile phantom.
METHODS: In a phantom study, gadoxetate, gadobenate, and gadoterate were diluted in saline, blood, and bile at different concentrations (0, 0.25, 0.5. 1, 2.5, 5, 10, and 25 mM) and imaged in a 3-T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system using T1- and T2-weighted sequences. 68Ga is produced from enriched zinc-68 target electrodeposited on copper base material which was irradiated with 15 MeV proton energy in 30 MeV cyclotron. A modified semi-automated separation and purification module was used to obtain pharmaceutical grade [68Ga]GaCl3 in 35 ± 5 min. The quality of [68Ga]GaCl3 produced was in accordance with Pharmeuropa 30.4. The [68Ga]GaCl3 was utilized for the formulation of multiple doses of [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 and [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE. The quality of [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 and [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE were also in accordance with Pharmacopeia.

1-(2-Methoxyethyl)piperidine sustituted Zn phthalocyanine complex (2) is synthesised and quartenised (3). These complexes are loaded into silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) that are futher surface modified with ampicillin and 1.3-propanesultone. The photophysical and photochemical properties of the complexes and their doped conjugates were investigated in dimethylsulfoxide. The cationic complex (3) is used for photodynamic antimicrobial activity. Log reduction values of above 9 are obtained towards the photoiactivation of Staphyloccocus aureus.

Two isoreticular metal-organic frameworks with chemical formulae [Cu(L)(4,4'-bipy)(H2O)]n 1.5nCH3CN (1) and [Cu(L)(4,4'-bipy)(H2O)]n·4nH2O (2) (H2L = diphenylmethane-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid) were synthesized and structurally characterized. Transfer hydrogenation from 2-propanol to CO/4-methylstyrene and CO/styrene polyketones was catalyzed by [Ir(diene)(N-N)X] (N-N = nitrogen chelating ligand; X = halogen) in the presence of a basic cocatalyst. The reactions were performed using dioxane as cosolvent, in order to overcome problems due to low polyketone solubility. The polyalcohols were obtained in yields up to 95%, the conversions being markedly dependent on the nature of the ligands coordinated to iridium as well as on the experimental conditions.
