Mentalization-Based Therapy for Children and Families: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Recent Literature.

This systematic review evaluated the impact of Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) parenting interventions on parental reflective functioning (PRF, the operationalized measure of the metalizing construct), child psychosocial outcomes, and parenting factors. A meta-analysis of studies measuring PRF using the Parental Reflective Functioning Questionnaire (PRFQ) indicated small, non-significant effects, with high heterogeneity across studies. Narrative synthesis of 19 studies suggested generally positive outcomes, including improvements in PRF, child emotional regulation and parental stress, though

Perinatal health framework for people with intellectual disability.

We propose a framework for guiding research on perinatal health in people with intellectual disability (ID). We developed this framework based on the perinatal health framework for people with physical disabilities, American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities conceptual framework of human functioning, disability reproductive justice framework, trauma-informed care, and socio-ecological model. The framework reflects health outcomes of birthing people with ID and their infants that result from interactions of factors across the life course at policy (health, social, and d

Primary Headaches and School Performance-Is There a Connection?

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Headache is a common complaint among children and adolescents. School functioning is one of the most important life domains impacted by chronic pain in children. This review discusses the epidemiological and pathophysiological connections between headaches and school functioning including a suggested clinical approach. RECENT FINDINGS: The connection between recurrent and chronic headache and learning disabilities might be psychosocial (fear of failure) or anatomical (malfunctioning of the frontal and prefrontal areas). Only few population-based and clinical studies were do

Polygenic associations with phenotypic classes across the psychosis-affective spectrum.

INTRODUCTION: Limitations of current classifications of schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder are evident from their overlapping symptoms, aetiologies, treatments, and outcomes, and present a barrier to novel treatment discovery. Alternative conceptualisations are needed to address nosological validity, align diagnosis to aetiology, and improve prognostication and treatment choice. We aimed to identify latent classes across the psychosis spectrum based on premorbid functioning and outcomes, and assess these in relation to genetic liability and symptom dimensions. METHO

Voluntary control of auditory hallucinations: phenomenology to therapeutic implications.

Auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH) have traditionally been thought to be outside the influence of conscious control. However, recent work with voice hearers makes clear that both treatment-seeking and non-treatment-seeking voice hearers may exert varying degrees of control over their voices. Evidence suggests that this ability may be a key factor in determining health status, but little systematic examination of control in AVH has been carried out. This review provides an overview of the research examining control over AVH in both treatment-seeking and non-treatment-seeking populations. We f
