BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to determine whether secondary immune responses to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) were altered by exposure to radiation.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: C57BL/6 mice were irradiated (60Co, gamma-rays) to 0 or 3 Gray (Gy) and injected intraperitoneally with LPS on days 10 and 42 thereafter. Subsets were euthanized 0-14 days after the second injection for analyses.

We report here the resection of a radiation-induced sarcoma (RIS) of the left clavicle developed in a 59-year-old woman 13 years after radiation for breast cancer. Surgery consisted of extirpation of the tumor with a combined resection of the total layer of the chest wall, the left brachiocephalic vein, and the left subclavian vein, reconstructed with a pediculated musculocutaneous graft using the right latissimus dorsi muscle. RIS of the clavicle is rare, and the prognosis might be poor. However, a complete removal of the tumor is feasible and can be performed safely.

We report a case of mucocutaneous pemphigus vulgaris in a patient with squamous cell carcinoma of the lung. The cutaneous involvement was limited to the skin within his therapeutic radiation portal.
