Functional differences between afferent fibers in the hypogastric and pelvic nerves innervating female reproductive organs in the rat.

1. The uterus, cervix, and vaginal canal are innervated by afferent fibers in the hypogastric and pelvic nerves. Four studies compared the innervation territory and sensitivity to peripheral stimuli of the two sets of fibers in adult virgin rats. 2. Innervation territory was studied anatomically by injecting different fluorescent dyes into different parts of the reproductive, lower urinary, and lower digestive tracts and examining retrogradely labeled neurons in dorsal root ganglia. It was also studied electrophysiologically in anesthetized rats by summing potentials evoked in branches of the

Ectopic eruption of permanent incisors after predecessor pulpectomy: five cases.

Pulpectomy in primary teeth is a common technique that preserves teeth in the oral environment and maintains or recovers periapical tissues to a healthy condition. This article describes the ectopic eruption of permanent incisors whose primary predecessors underwent pulpectomy using ZOE filler paste. In a group of 135 teeth that received pulpectomy therapy due to caries, 10 primary maxillary incisors had overretention and were followed for at least 3.5 years (mean time of 4.2 years), both clinically and radiographically, until the permanent teeth erupted. The proposed treatment included extrac

The effect of different surface treatment methods on the pull-out bond strength of PEEK endocrowns.

BACKGROUND: Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) has gained increasing attention as a restorative material for endocrown fabrication because of its favorable biomechanical properties and dentin-like elastic modulus. However, its low surface energy and chemically inert structure may compromise adhesive bonding to resin cements. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different surface treatment protocols on the pull-out bond strength of PEEK endocrowns. METHODS: Sixty extracted sound human molars were used in this study. Standard endodontic access cavities were prepared for all teeth and root canal

Effects of different concentrations of sodium hypochlorite on dentine adhesion and the recovery application of sodium erythorbate.

OBJECTIVES: Root canal therapy is the most effective and common method for pulpitis and periapical periodontitis. During the root canal preparation, chemical irrigation plays a key role. However, sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), the widely used irrigation fluid, may impact the bonding strength between dentin and restorative material meanwhile sterilization and dissolving. Therefore, it's important to explore the influence of NaOCl on the adhesion between dentin and restoration materials to ensure clinical efficacy. This study aims to explore the effect of NaOCl on dentine adhesion and evaluate the…

Alginate/laponite hydrogel microspheres co-encapsulating dental pulp stem cells and VEGF for endodontic regeneration.

Considering the complicated and irregular anatomical structure of root canal systems, injectable microspheres have received considerable attention as cell carriers in endodontic regeneration. Herein, we developed injectable hybrid RGD-alginate/laponite (RGD-Alg/Lap) hydrogel microspheres, co-encapsulating human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). These microspheres were prepared by the electrostatic microdroplet method with an average size of 350~450 μm. By adjusting the content of laponite, the rheological properties and the degradation rate of the m

Multidisciplinary treatment approach to restore deep horizontally fractured maxillary central incisor.

This case report demonstrates sequential periodontic, orthodontic and prosthodontic treatment modalities to save and restore deep horizontally fractured maxillary central incisor. The location of fracture was deep in the mucosa which reveals less than 2 mm of tooth structure to receive the crown. The procedures like surgical crown lengthening, endodontic post placement, orthodontic forced eruption, core build-up and metal-ceramic crown restoration were sequentially performed to conserve the fractured tooth. Forced eruption is preferred to surgical removal of supporting alveolar bone, since for
