Schistosoma haematobium is the species primarily responsible for the manifestation of schistosomiasis in the genitourinary tract. It is a parasitic disease caused by flukes (trematodes) of the genus Schistosoma, which can result in acute and chronic manifestation. BACKGROUND: Urinary incontinence (UI) is defined by the International Continence Society (ICS) as the involuntary loss of urine that represents a hygienic or social problem to the individual. The aetiology is multifactorial. The diagnosis of UI is important because it can result in the application of appropriate therapy. A 7-year-old boy with chief complaint of chronic pelvic pain was referred to our nuclear medicine department for bone scintigraphy. The images showed a focus of radiotracer activity in the right side of pelvic cavity, which is further confirmed as urinary bladder by single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and delayed images. Because of high possibility of mass effect in pelvic cavity, pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed, and it revealed an unusual dilatation of rectosigmoid colon with no evidence of pelvic mass.

Inguinal herniation of a bladder diverticulum is a rare finding. The diagnosis should be suspected if the size of hernia is variable on urination. These patients may also experience obstructive voiding symptoms. Various imaging modalities may clarify the diagnosis. In our patient, intravenous urography precisely showed a bladder diverticulum in the right inguinal area. The patient underwent open simple prostatectomy and herniorrhaphy. He remains symptom-free on follow-up.
