OBJECTIVE: To treat severe obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) with transcervical tongue partial reduction and evaluate treating effect.
METHODS: Forty four patients of severe OSAHS were treated with transcervical tongue partial reduction + uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP). Apnea hypopnea index (AHI), minimal oxygen percent saturation, body mass index (BMI), area of retroglossal region were measured for diagnosis and evaluation.

Fifty patients presenting with night snore were examined for neck anthropometry, evaluation of the state of nasal cavity and vegetative homeostasis. Fourteen patients were given combined surgical treatment including endonasal functional operation and radiofrequency-assisted uvuloplasty. Investigations of snoring have been initiated because snoring is associated with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) and some chronic diseases eventuating in invalidity. OBJECTIVE: To discuss the avoidance strategies of severe perioperative complications in surgical treatments of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).
METHOD: 180 cases of uvulopalatopharyngoplasty(UPPP) and 1 case of nose bleeding were analyzed, 10 cases of severe complications reported.

This report looks at outpatient treatment of nasopharyngeal inlet stenosis, a more commonly seen postoperative complication of uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP). It does not study the effectiveness of the UPPP for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). Thirty patients with bedpartners complaining of their heavy snoring which had resulted in separate bedrooms were treated surgically. Three different methods were used, each group consisted of 10 patients. In group A conventional scalpel excision was used for uvulopalatopharyngoplasty including tonsillectomy.
