BACKGROUND: HIV-1 controllers are a rare population of individuals that exhibit spontaneous control of HIV-1 infection without antiretroviral therapy. Understanding the mechanisms by which HIV-1 controllers maintain and eventually lose this ability would be highly valuable in HIV-1 cure or vaccine research. BACKGROUND: Malignant thymoma is composed of neoplastic epithelial cells and small lymphocytes. Rarely, patients also may have peripheral T-lymphocytosis. These lymphocytes have been considered nonneoplastic because of their microscopic appearance and immunophenotype, as well as gene rearrangement studies.

OBJECTIVE: To comprehensively characterize the immunologic characteristics of patients with protein-losing enteropathy (PLE) post-Fontan and compare them with patients without PLE post-Fontan.
