This study aimed to compare the bone healing and stability of the chin with a pre-bent absorbable plate and a manually bent absorbable plate after advancement genioplasty. The current standard approach to treat class II malocclusion is orthodontic preparation followed by a mandibular advancement through bilateral sagittal split osteotomy associated or not with a genioplasty. The aim of this review was to investigate the skeletal and soft tissue stability of isolated advancement genioplasty after more than 1 year, and to observe the influence of associated risk factors. A literature search was performed on PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane. OBJECTIVES: This ultrasound-based cross-sectional study aimed to visualize, locate and compare the position of the mental foramen with regard to its relationship to various soft tissue landmarks.
METHODS: 100 Black and Caucasian subjects were included. An ultrasound transducer was used to locate the mental foramina. Distances to various landmarks were measured and compared.

A 43-year-old Japanese man with alcoholic liver cirrhosis developed a nodule on the face 1 year prior to presentation. Histopathological examination showed amyloid deposition in the entire dermis, with numerous plasma cells. Nodular primary localized cutaneous amyloidosis is a rare form of amyloidosis, which needs long-term follow-up because of the possibility of the development of systemic amyloidosis. Also, this type of cutaneous amyloidosis may have other complications.

Malakoplakia is a rare, chronic disease with pleomorphic presentation. It occurs most frequently in immunocompromised patients. It is believed that this entity represents an unusual response to bacterial infection in which macrophages fail to phagocytose them properly. It involves many organs, particularly the urinary and gastrointestinal tracts. It is uncommon on the skin and less common in children. The diagnosis is usually based on histopathologic findings.

Cutaneous angiomyolipomas are rare. We report a case in a 45-year-old male with a well circumscribed lesion located on the chin. This lesion, probably hamartomatous in nature, differs from renal angiomyolipoma in terms of nonassociation with tuberous sclerosis, circumscription, and male predominance. Another characteristic feature is the absence of epithelioid cells. Differential diagnosis includes angiolipoma, angioleiomyoma, hemangioma, and myolipoma. It is distinguished from the abovementioned entities by the presence of a combination of thick-walled blood vessels, smooth muscle, and fat.
