Functional Analysis of IL-6 Genetic Variants and Their Potential Role in Lipid Homeostasis and Inflammatory Regulation in Colombian Athletes.

Obesity and metabolic dysregulation are closely associated with chronic low-grade inflammation, in which interleukin-6 (IL-6) plays a key regulatory role. Genetic variation in the IL-6 gene may influence inflammatory responses and metabolic homeostasis. To identify single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) in the IL-6 gene in a cohort of Colombian high-performance athletes and to evaluate their potential functional and structural consequences using bioinformatic prediction and protein-modeling approaches. A descriptive observational study was conducted in a cohort of 23 high-performance Colombian athl

Uncovering the relationship between YAP/ WWTR1 (TAZ) genes expression and LncRNAs of SNHG15, HCP5 and LINC01433 in breast cancer tissues.

In spite of the decrease in breast cancer (BC) death rates, it has remained a significant public health concern. Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway contributes to breast cancer development and progression by enhancing cancerous cell proliferation, survival, invasion, and migration. Investigating the connection between specific lncRNAs (SNHG15, HCP5, and LINC01433) and YAP and WWTR1, and the impact of these lncRNAs on the expression of YAP and WWTR1 proteins in the Hippo pathway, may offer valuable understanding for BC diagnosis and treatment. Forty BC tissue samples were acquired from the Tumo

Tandem mass tag proteomic and untargeted metabolomic profiling reveals altered serum and CSF biochemical datasets in iron deficient monkeys.

The effects of early-life iron deficiency anemia (IDA) extend past the blood and include both short- and long-term adverse effects on many tissues including the brain. Prior to IDA, iron deficiency (ID) can cause similar tissue effects, but a sensitive biomarker of iron-dependent brain health is lacking. To determine serum and CSF biomarkers of ID-induced metabolic dysfunction we performed proteomic and metabolomic analysis of serum and CSF at 4- and 6- months from a nonhuman primate model of infantile IDA. LC/MS/MS analyses identified a total of 227 metabolites and 205 proteins in serum. In C

Protein-coding genes in humans and model mammals (mouse, rat and pig): gene identifiers and disambiguation of gene nomenclature retrieved from the Ensembl genome browser.

BACKGROUND: Gene nomenclature contains current official symbols and various numbers of synonyms, which pose a challenge to integrating genomic data and increase the probability that different genes share the same symbol. Therefore, we retrieved identifiers assigned to all protein-coding genes in human, mouse, rat and pig genomes that are available in the Ensembl genome browser (release 113) to assess the number of genes, compare species and identify ambiguous symbols. RESULTS: Our analysis revealed that the total number of symbols, both official symbols and synonyms, used to identify protein-

Hybrid Dual-Context Prompted Cross-Attention Framework with Language Model Guidance for Multi-Label Prediction of Human Off-Target Ligand-Protein Interactions.

Accurately identifying drug off-targets is essential for reducing toxicity and improving the success rate of pharmaceutical discovery pipelines. However, current deep learning approaches often struggle to fuse chemical structure, protein biology, and multi-target context. Here, we introduce HDPC-LGT (Hybrid Dual-Prompt Cross-Attention Ligand-Protein Graph Transformer), a framework designed to predict ligand binding across sixteen human translation-related proteins clinically associated with antibiotic toxicity. HDPC-LGT combines graph-based chemical reasoning with protein language model embedd
