Both the vascular and cellular aspects of inflammation were studied in rats aged from 6 hours to 2 months. The onset of a vascular permeability reaction was found to vary according to the age of rat and type of permeability agent injected. Induction of acute inflammations (turpentine pleurisy, 48/80 and dextran-induced foot oedema) in new born rats revealed a marked reduction of exudate/oedema formation compared with adult rats. Qualitative and quantitative determinations of immunoglobulins (Ig's) and beta-1-C globulin were carried out in fluid vesicles of hydatidiform moles and carrier mothers. The mean concentration of IgG was 9.9 per cent, IgA had 14.3 per cent, in relation to maternal values. No IgM concentrations were detected in molar fluid. Beta-1-C globulin showed 60.5 per cent concentration in relation to mother's serum. It is suggested that in trophoblast of molar vesicles a selective transudate migration of Ig's by a mechanism of pinocytosis takes place to the vesicular fluid.

BACKGROUND: With 10-years' worth of growth in the use of LUS by physiotherapists within the U.K., this survey explores their training, implementation and clinical practice experiences.
METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was delivered to U.K. Physiotherapists accredited in LUS. The 50-question survey was administered via JISC online and was open for 4-weeks in January 2025. Closed questions were presented descriptively; open questions underwent inductive conceptual content analysis and descriptive coding.

We assessed the utility of ultrasound to guide the selection of closed pleural biopsy technique and site and to assess the respective contributions of repeat thoracentesis and closed pleural biopsy in 100 consecutive patients with undiagnosed pleural exudates. Thoracentesis was more likely to be diagnostic in TB than malignancy (77.8% vs 31.0%, p<0.001). Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdLS) can result in multiple congenital abnormalities and numerous ocular findings. We report the case of a 6-year-old boy with history of CdLS who presented with Coats disease. The findings in this case are compared to those found in the two previously reported cases of concomitant CdLS and Coats disease.
