A case of bilateral, symmetric, sporothricoid granulomas involving the dorsa of fingers and wrists is reported. The culture-proved Mycobacterium marinum skin infection was acquired by a fish-fancier while clearing his aquarium with bare hands. The patient suffered from chronic hand eczema. Treatment with co-trimoxazole was successful.

In the period between April 1984 and April 1988 a total of 4294 clinically suspected cases of dermatomycoses were examined for causative fungi. Of these cases 680 were suspected as tinea pedis and tinea manuum. These cases belonged to 21 different nationalities. Both sexes were represented and 649 cases (95.4%) were adults while 31 (4.6%) were prepubertals. 3 patients with contact dermatitis to an ethyl cyanoacrylate glue are presented. Although reactions to cyanoacrylate glues are considered rare, more widespread use of these products by nail salons is likely to be associated with an increased incidence of positive reactions. A 35-year-old woman developed an orf infection of the fingers after contact with an infected goat. Following the primary orf infection, erythema multiforme developed and was controlled with prednisone. The association between erythema multiforme and orf is discussed; also, it is noted that orf is another viral condition that should be added to the agents that can initiate erythema multiforme.

Hard metal contains about 10% cobalt. 853 hard metal workers were examined and patch tested with substances from their environment. Initial patch tests with 1% cobalt chloride showed 62 positive reactions. By means of secondary serial dilution tests, allergic reactions to cobalt were reproduced in 9 men and 30 women. Weak reactions could not normally be reproduced. A history of hand eczema was found in 36 of the 39 individuals with reproducible positive test reactions to cobalt, while 21 of 23 with a positive initial patch test but negative serial dilution test had never had any skin problems.

We report an unusual manifestation of dermatitis herpetiformis in four patients. Three of them fulfill all the criteria for dermatitis herpetiformis: micro-abscesses of polymorphs in the upper papillary dermis, granular IgA deposit on IF examination, gluten-sensitive enteropathy, HLA B8. These peculiar lesions occur on palms and fingers, and appear as a petechial and ecchymotic purpura. A light painful sensation may precede the eruption. A patient developed anthrax of his left long finger after an accidental injection with Bacillus anthracis. Early treatment with chemotherapy probably prevented the cultures from becoming positive. The patient recovered, and split-thickness skin grafting was needed for the finger wound.

Lesions of circumscribed scleroderma clinically appeared as pseudoxanthoma elasticum. The histological structure, however, revealed circumscribed scleroderma. The sclerodactyly, Raynaud's phenomenon, acrosclerosis and the laboratory results suggested systemic sclerosis.
