PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to identify the long-term visual acuity (VA) outcomes of eyes following an attack of acute primary angle closure in an urban UK population.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: This was a retrospective observational case series of 134 consecutive eyes of 123 subjects presenting with acute primary angle closure to a supraregional tertiary referral unit in the United Kingdom over a period of 60 months. PURPOSE: To study the effect on central vision of transscleral diode laser cyclophotocoagulation (TSDLC) for the reduction of intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with visual acuity (VA) better than 6/18.
METHODS: Retrospective chart review was conducted of patients undergoing cyclophotocoagulation between 2000 and 2008. Patients who underwent TSDLC with VA of 6/18 or better and at least 24 months follow-up were included. Primary outcome was decrease of 2 or more lines at 24 months. PURPOSE: Both intravitreal pegaptanib with laser therapy and intravitreal bevacizumab monotherapy have been found to be more efficacious than laser therapy alone in prospective, randomized, controlled clinical trials.

Fifty-one young onset Type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetic patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy before the age of 25 years were treated over a 3 year period by xenon photocoagulation. Pseudoamniotic band syndrome (PABS) is a rare iatrogenic complication that arises after invasive procedures in monochorionic twins. We report 3 cases of PABS, 2 after fetoscopic laser photocoagulation and 1 after bipolar cord coagulation. Two cases were detected antenatally by ultrasound; out of the two, one underwent successful fetoscopic release of amniotic band, which is the first report in twin pregnancy to our knowledge.
