The integration of genetics and genomics into nursing practice is essential for addressing genetic pathologies and providing personalized patient care. This study aims to analyze the nursing education curricula across Spanish universities to understand how genetic and genomic concepts are incorporated. Using the "Qué estudiar y dónde en la Universidad" (QEDU) database, an official source provided by the Spanish Ministry of Universities, a systematic review of 4720 teaching guides from 118 university centers was conducted. Our findings reveal that 12 centers do not include any genetic or genomi

Achieving optimal and safe pain-management practices in the nursing home setting continues to challenge administrators, nurses, physicians, and other health care providers. Several factors in nursing home settings complicate the conduct of clinical process improvement research. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the perceptions of a sample of Colorado nursing home staff who participated in a study to develop and evaluate a multifaceted pain-management intervention. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 103 staff from treatment and control nursing homes, audiotaped, an

BACKGROUND: Nurse faculty shortages and increased levels of reported burnout are negatively affecting the nursing workforce and impacting healthcare. Nurse faculty struggle to balance all aspects of their role, including scholarship/research, teaching, service, and practice, along with their personal values, which can contribute to feelings of burnout.
PROBLEM: Traditional models for supporting nurse faculty professional development and evaluation fail to incorporate personal values and do not include practice as its own component of the faculty role.
APPROACH: This article presents the quad

AIM: This study evaluates the effectiveness of an educational intervention in the area of nursing knowledge and practice relating to neonatal respiratory distress syndrome.
BACKGROUND: In Jordan, respiratory distress is the leading cause of death among neonates. Recent studies have revealed a knowledge deficit relating to respiratory distress among nurses in neonatal intensive care units, hence the need for advanced training and specialization in this area.
METHODS: A quasi-experimental, repeated-measures, one-group pre-test-post-test design was used to assess the effectiveness of the educat

Nurses play a pivotal role in supporting patients during the dying process. A transcultural perspective is crucial to provide individualized, respectful care that addresses cultural beliefs, values, and practices. Despite growing attention to cultural competence in palliative care, little is known about how nurses integrate these dimensions in daily practice. This study aimed to explore the perceptions of palliative and oncology nurses regarding culturally sensitive end-of-life care. A phenomenological qualitative design was employed. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 6 oncology n

Nurses are confronted daily with making ethical decisions in practice, in which the "right" or best course of action must be determined. However, for intrapartum nurses, the seemingly ordinary nature of ethical issues means that these concerns may be viewed merely as clinical or logistical problems to be solved, leaving the ethical dimensions obscured. This has consequences not only for women and the provision of safe, family-centered maternity care but also for the quality of nurses' work environments and degree of moral distress experienced. This article explores ethical aspects of intrapart

Person-centered care is often equated with quality nursing home care. At the same time, quality mobility care contributes to residents' independence and quality of life. Realist evaluation and mixed methods were employed to evaluate the feasibility of a multi-faceted training intervention focused on person-centered mobility care. Staff and ambulatory residents of a ninety bed Australian nursing home with 3 units--one dementia-specific--participated. The intervention consisted of training sessions, weekly mobility care huddles and reflective practice sessions with individual staff. This study d
