This article reviews treatment and presents complications seen in the treatment of 7 common congenital hand differences, including syndactyly, camptodactyly, ulnar and radial polydactyly, thumb hypoplasia, radial longitudinal deficiency, and epidermolysis bullosa. The management of these conditions is challenging but has evolved over the last several decades with refined understanding of the disease processes and treatments. The goal of this article is to synthesize prior knowledge and provide further insights into these conditions that will help the surgeon avoid treatment complications.

OBJECTIVE: To develop a training module for carving ear cartilage.
SETTING: Designing the ear framework is one of the most challenging surgical steps during ear reconstruction in microtia and acquired deformities of the ear. Trainees do not get an opportunity to carve ear cartilage during their training period.
MATERIAL: Ox scapular cartilage was retrieved from a manual slaughterhouse. It was transported in a 4°C ice chamber. This was used as a training material for carving the ear framework. Each scapular cartilage was adequate for two to three ear frameworks.

The new local flap technique based on cutting out valve flaps combining with the principle of acute dermatension is presented in this article. The method is offered as alternative to plasty with transposed triangular flaps or Z-plasty and it allows to excise pathological scars, provides good esthetic results. With a worldwide incidence of 1/750 live births, facial clefts rank as the second most frequent congenital malformation. The term "sequelae" is used here to designate the conditions, which follow and are the result of labial-alveolar-palatal clefts. BACKGROUND: Complete or incomplete cleft lip may include a contralateral lesser form of incomplete cleft lip to give rise to an asymmetrical bilateral cleft lip deformity. The principle of simultaneous bilateral cleft repair remains an area of contention with regard to asymmetrical cases, including a lesser form deformity.
METHODS: The cleft lip database of the senior author (D.M.F.) was searched for patients with complete or incomplete bilateral cleft lip with a contralateral lesser form defect. Results were assessed by reviewing photographs and recording revisions.
