Thirty-one patients with stress urinary incontinence were operated on using tension-free vaginal tape (TVT). All were evaluated preoperatively with urodynamics, pad test and stress test. Conservative treatment was without significant effect. Three months after the operation no patients had stress incontinence but I with mixed incontinence experienced deterioration of her urge incontinence and 2 experienced de novo urge incontinence. Ectopia cordis is a very rare congenital anomaly associated with a high mortality rate. A successful repair of ectopia cordis with complete absence of sternum was achieved in a two-stage procedure. Initial management consisted of coverage of skin over the malpositioned heart using bilateral pectoral skin flaps. A second more definitive repair was undertaken at age 14 months. The tissue reaction in rabbit iris and cornea to prolene suture is equivalent to the tissue reaction to nylon suture. The prolene suture retains its tensile strength indefinitely and this may make it particularly useful in situations where a permanent suture is desired, such as in refractive keratoplasty, scleral buckle, or to suture an intraocular lens to the iris. The prolene suture also has a greater elasticity and this property may be advantageous in some clinical applications. We feel that a clinical study on humans is now warranted and we have started such a study.

Small benthic scavengers and carnivores, such as polychaetes, are very interesting to assess the accumulation and transfer of microplastics (MPs) to higher trophic levels in marine ecosystems. In this study we evaluate the presence, accumulation and impacts of MPs in the North-Atlantic deep-sea polychaete Laetmonice filicornis.
