We report three cases of an orbital soft tissue lesion that fulfills the histologic, immunohistochemical, and electron microscopic criteria for solitary fibrous tumor, an entity previously described as a pleural tumor, but recently reported to occur in other locations. We present a case of a perianal and perianal spindle cell variant of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS). A 3-month-old male child presented with a firm mass in the perianal region. The mass measured 5 cm × 3 cm × 2 cm was surgically removed. Biopsy was performed; it showed embryonal RMS. Immunohistochemical (IHC) stains were performed using vimentin, myogenin, spinal muscular atrophy, and muscle-specific actin, which all showed positive results. The histological examination and IHC stains were consistent with a spindle cell variant of embryonal RMS.

Extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma (EES) is a rare soft tissue tumor morphologically indistinguishable from the more common Ewing's sarcoma of bone. Sarcomatous transformation in chordoma is a very rare condition and has been emphasized as a distinct entity because of its more aggressive clinical course. Here we describe a case of dedifferentiated chordoma arising from the skull base region of an 11-year-old boy, with tumor recurrence within one year. This tumor showed features of pleomorphic cell sarcoma with areas more typical of chordoma. Most of tumor cells expressed cytokeratin, epithelial membrane antigen, vimentin and S-100 protein, thus confirming the diagnosis of dedifferentiated chordoma.

Solitary fibrous tumors (SFT) are well recognized in the pleura, but their rare occurrence at other sites has become appreciated only in recent years. We experienced a 68-year-old male patient who presented with frequency of urination and difficulty in voiding. Computed tomographic scan revealed a solid and cystic mass which measured 12 x 10 cm in the prevesical space. This tumor showed typical histopathologic features of SFT, and was immunostained positive for vimentin, CD34 and CD99. This is an extremely rare case of SFT arising from the parietal peritoneum found in the prevesical space.

This report presents a case of calcifying fibrous pseudotumor arising in the posterior mediastinum of a 54-year-old woman.
