Lobular capillary hemangiomas (LCH) are acquired benign vascular tumors of skin and mucosal spaces of head and neck. Very few cases of LCH have been reported in the abdomen, predominantly occurring as mucosal polyps in the bowel. We present CT imaging features of solitary retroperitoneal LCH in a patient with synchronous ipsilateral renal cell carcinoma and review the available literature and imaging features in abdominal and extra-abdominal LCH. To our knowledge, there is no other case of retroperitoneal LCH available in the English literature.

Systemic capillary leak syndrome (SCLS) is very rare and lethal disease and only 150 cases have been reported after the first publication of its report in 1960 by Clarkson. SCLS is characterized by hemoconcentation and hypoalbuminemia caused by reversible plasma extravasation. Its mechanism is unknown, but transient dysfunction of the endothelium is the most suspected cause and trigger of this event may cause immunologic disarrangement. Tufted angiomas may occur in the head and neck region, but the external auditory canal is a previously undefined localization. There are only 19 cases of hemangiomas reported in this unique localization. However, this case is the first capillary hemangioma of the tufted variant being reported with a recurrence after 7 years after surgical excision in a 47-year-old male patient.

We describe a method for high-throughput analysis of protein-binding sites in DNA using 96-well plates and capillary electrophoresis. The genomic DNA or plasmid DNA to be analyzed is amplified using fluorescent primers, incubated with an appropriate nuclear extract and treated with DNase I. Separation of the DNase I-generated fragments and co-analysis of their base sequences identify the position of protein-binding sites in a DNA fragment. The method is applicable to the identification of base changes, e.g., single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), that eliminate protein binding to DNA.

BACKGROUND: Categorization of vascular anomalies with overgrowth is evolving rapidly with the aid of massively parallel genomic sequencing; however, accurate clinical diagnosis is still essential. We identified a group of patients with an extensive, diffuse, reticulate capillary malformation (CM) and variable hypertrophy without major complications.
OBJECTIVE: We sought to study a subset of patients with diffuse CM to better define prognosis and management.
METHODS: Chart review identified 73 patients with diffuse CM who did not fit the criteria for known disorders with CM and/or overgrowth.

OBJECTIVE: To establish solvent desorption capillary gas chromatography method for determination of chloroform and carbon tetrachloride in residential air.
METHODS: The sample was absorbed by active carbon glass tube, then desorbed by Acetone and determined by Capillary Gas Chromatography.
RESULTS: Linear range of this method: 5.0 x 10(-4)-1.0 x 10(-1) mg/m3 for chloroform, 1.9 x 10(-4)-1.0 x 10(-2) mg/m3 for carbon tetrachloride. The sample could be stored in the active carbon glass tube for 7 days. The re-occurrence rate of this method is good. RSD is: 0.41%-1.54% for chloroform, 0.31%-1.0

The authors describe a case of a 14-year-old male child presenting with massive anterior epistaxis on a background of recurrent episodes of epistaxis. Immediate management constituted anterior nasal packing. Endoscopic nasal examination revealed a 5 mm purple vascular lesion anterior to the right-middle turbinate.
