Sociodemographic, reproductive, and psychiatric factors associated with menstrual distress in Indonesian women: findings from an online survey using the MEDI-Q.

Despite growing interest in menstrual health, the interplay between sociodemographic factors, contraceptive history, and pre-existing health conditions in relation to menstrual distress has not been sufficiently elucidated. This study aimed to examine the associations between age, educational background, occupational status, contraceptive history, type of contraceptive used, and the presence of reproductive or psychiatric disorders with menstrual distress levels am

Associations between Ambient Air Pollution Exposure and Menstrual Cycle Irregularity in Premenopausal Women.

PURPOSE: This study investigates the associations between various air pollutants and menstrual cycle irregularity. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data for premenopausal women were obtained from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (n=4478). We evaluated the associations of moving averages of five air pollutants over 90, 120, 150, 180, and 365 days with short-interval (menstruation occurring at least once every 3 months) and long-interval (menstruation skipped for ≥ 3 months) menstrual cycle irregularity using multinomial logistic regression models. The joint effects of air pollu

Validating community concerns of menstrual changes associated with COVID-19 vaccination using a self-controlled case series analysis of real-world data.

OBJECTIVES: Stories of menstrual changes occurring post COVID-19 vaccination have abounded, with many affected persons expressing frustration their concerns were not being heard. In an era where misinformation is rampant and can fuel vaccine hesitancy it is imperative to address and validate community concerns. Prevalence of Hormonal Contraceptive Use and Self-Reported Symptomatic Experiences Attributed to the Menstrual Cycle or Hormonal Contraceptive Use in Norwegian Women: The Effect of Training Categories and Age Groups - The FENDURA Project.

The aims of the current study were to (1) report the prevalence of hormonal contraceptive (HC) use among Norwegian women across different training categories and age groups; (2) compare the frequency and severity of cycle-related symptoms across differing training categories and age groups; and (3) describe the bleeding pattern and prevalence of menstrual disorder/disturbances among non-HC users. A sample of 2059 Norwegian women completed a survey reporting: weekly training volume; current HC usage, type, and reasons for use; cycle-related symptom frequency and severity; and the prevalence of

Fertility, Contraception, and Novel Reproductive Technologies in Chronic Kidney Disease.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis function, leading to menstrual abnormalities, sexual dysfunction, functional menopause, and loss of fertility. Pregnancy in a patient with CKD is associated with a higher risk of complications to both the mother and the fetus, highlighting the importance of contraceptive counseling at all stages of CKD. There has been limited research on the safety and efficacy of different contraceptive methods in the CKD population, and it is important to tailor the choice of contraception to the patient's lifestyle and comorbidity stat

Health effect of chronic exposure to carbon disulfide (C2) on women employed in viscose industry.

Many women are exposed to carbon disulfide (C2) hazards at work every day. Working with C2 may cause some women to experience abnormalities in their reproductive health. Until now obtained data is generally concentrated on the health effects of C2 observed in the viscose industry. To date, C2 has not been studied precisely for its potential to have damaging effects on female reproductive system, especially the frequency of menstrual disturbances and the course of menopause. The aim of the study was to sum up female reproductive health hazards amongst women chronically exposed to C2 in their wo

Three-step method for menstrual and oral contraceptive cycle verification.

OBJECTIVES: Fluctuating endogenous and exogenous ovarian hormones may influence exercise parameters; yet control and verification of ovarian hormone status is rarely reported and limits current exercise science and sports medicine research. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of an individualised three-step method in identifying the mid-luteal or high hormone phase in endogenous and exogenous hormone cycles in recreationally-active women and determine hormone and demographic characteristics associated with unsuccessful classification. DESIGN: Cross-sectional study des
