Straight or fractured? The DIDCO lifeline framework: a structured multidimensional model for psychiatric work capacity evaluation.

Psychiatric work capacity evaluation remains characterized by substantial inter-rater variability and limited transparency in medico-legal contexts. While several validated dimensions relevant to work capacity assessment already exist-including diagnostic severity, functional impairment, ecological functioning, and occupational demands-psychiatry still lacks an integrated and visually structured framework allowing coherent synthesis of these elements in routine expert practice. This article proposes the DIDCO Lifeline framework, a multidimensional graphical model designed to support psychiatri

Diversity-Specific Empowering Leadership: An Alternative Approach to Reducing Sex-Based Bias and Enabling Inclusivity.

Achieving sex-based equity in organizational leadership roles has proven to be a 'wicked' problem with existing diversity initiatives providing minimal improvement. In this paper, we address this issue by considering a key inhibiter to women's leadership advancement-biased perceptions of female leaders' competence-and links to a climate for inclusion. In Study 1 (N = 236), we develop and validate a Diversity-Specific Empowering Leadership (DSEL) measure, and demonstrate its value in predicting perceptions of female leaders' competence when compared to alternative leadership models (empowering

Health Literacy and Communication in Stroke Prevention, Management, and Recovery: A Scientific Statement From the American Heart Association.

Health literacy is a critical component of high-quality stroke care. Across the continuum from prevention through recovery, health literacy is strongly associated with functional outcomes and stroke-related morbidity. Despite its importance, it is often overlooked, leaving patients and caregivers overwhelmed by communication demands that exceed their capacity. These mismatches are especially pronounced among individuals with stroke-related cognitive or language impairments, limited English proficiency, socioeconomic disadvantage, or limited digital literacy. This scientific statement synthesiz

In Western countries, more than half of patients suffering from mental disorders are treated by primary care professionals without specialist psychiatric follow-up. General practitioners (GPs) therefore occupy a natural position as crucial front-line actors in the management of these problems. However, GPs currently face the same challenges as those posed by the concept of public mental health. Biopsychosocial care integrating somatic and psychological factors within a broad spectrum of health determinants, the importance of health promotion and prevention as a complement to curative care, a c

Expanding Quantitative Medicines' Reach: Systems and Methods to Enhance R&D Productivity and Decision-Making in the Agentic-Era.

Despite integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into drug discovery and an expanding global medicines pipeline, new drug approvals have declined, highlighting a paradox in biopharma: More drugs discovered, but less approvals, higher costs, and longer timelines. Reasons for the decreased research and development (R&D) efficiency are multifactorial, in part driven by the complexity of new modalities, difficult targets and indications, and persistence of cognitive biases in clinical decision-making. One proposed solution to address R&D productivity challenges includes the adoption of organiza

Coworkers Behaving Badly: How the Dark Triad Influences Responses to Witnessing Workplace Misconduct.

The "bad-begets-bad" phenomenon describes how witnessed or perceived misconduct in an organization promotes mental states and behavior that encourage further misconduct. Based in two perspectives on how the Dark Triad (DT) constructs (narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy) differentiate, we proposed their roles in contributing to the bad-begets-bad phenomenon. A convenience sample of college students (N = 454) completed an online study in which they read vignettes depicting workplace misconduct wherein a reporting incentive was (incentive condition) or was not (no-incentive condition) offe

The impact of illegitimate tasks on burnout syndrome in a healthcare system: A cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Burnout syndrome, characterized by physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion due to continuous exposure to high-stress work conditions, has been increasingly recognized as a serious occupational phenomenon, especially amongst healthcare professionals. Recent studies indicate that illegitimate tasks-activities unrelated to one's role are a significant factor contributing to burnout. However, given the variability of work environments across regions, these findings may not apply universally. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the behavior of the relationship between burnout and illegitimate

Longitudinal control of blood pressure among a cohort of Ghanaians with hypertension: A multicenter, hospital-based study.

There are limited data on factors associated with longitudinal control of blood pressure (BP) among Ghanaians on antihypertensive treatment. We sought to evaluate associations between prospective BP control and 24 putative factors within socio-demographic, biological, and organizational domains. This is a cohort study involving 1867 (65%) adults with hypertension and 1006 (35%) with both hypertension and diabetes mellitus at five public hospitals. Clinic BP was measured every 2 months for 18 months of follow-up. A multivariate logistic regression analysis was fitted via generalized linear mixe
