BACKGROUND: An 80-year-old male was found to have a metastatic lesion in his cerebrum. He underwent uncomplicated resection with prolonged inhalational anesthesia due to issues with intravenous access prior to surgery. Postoperatively, the patient had persistent altered mental status.
