We conducted a follow-up study on 311 patients with urinary bladder neoplasms to investigate the association of polymorphisms in DNA repair and cell growth regulatory genes with the clinical outcomes of this disease. We found that patients carrying the variant allele of XPD (K751Q) polymorphism were at lower risk of death (p = 0.04) than the noncarriers. Treatment of the neurogenic bladder in canine models of spinal cord injury presents challenges in ensuring bladder drainage. While vesicostomy is routine for humans, the procedure is not common in canines. Our study of bladder reinnervation involved transection of the nerve roots that mediate bladder contraction in 34 canines. We report a case of signet-ring cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder. A 48-year-old female was hospitalized because of general fatigue, pollakiuria and residual sensation. UNLABELLED: The stress leak point pressure is the lowest bladder pressure at which leakage occurs during increases in intra-abdominal pressure. Our goal was the study of the stress leak point pressure in children to determine if it is a useful method of evaluation of incontinence and how it can be applied to pediatric clinical practice. Lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (LELCA) of the urinary bladder is a rare variant of bladder cancer characterized by a malignant epithelial component densely infiltrated by lymphoid cells. PURPOSE: In patients with a neurogenic bladder augmentation with the ileal cecal segment has generally been disregarded as an option due to concerns regarding fecal incontinence. We report our results using a hemi-Indiana pouch bladder augmentation for neurogenic bladder.
