We describe a 32-year-old lady who was admitted with a urinary tract infection following vacuum-assisted delivery. She was diagnosed with Enterococcus faecium related emphysematous cystitis, bladder gangrene and rupture necessitating emergency laparotomy and partial cystectomy. She had a repeat laparotomy nine days later due to continuing bladder necrosis on cystoscopy. The patient stayed in hospital for over two months due to complications including hospital acquired Klebsiella pneumonia, adult respiratory distress syndrome and malnutrition. CONTEXT: Clear cell adenocarcinoma of the urethra is an extremely rare tumour. Its histogenetic derivation remains controversial.
CASE REPORT: We report a new case of clear cell adenocarcinoma of the proximal urethra in a 56-year-old woman who presented with grossly hematuria. Urethral cystoscopy revealed a tumour protruding from the posterior urethral wall at the bladder neck. Treatment consisted of urethrocystectomy with pelvic lymph node dissection. Histologically, the neoplasm consisted of clear cell adenocarcinoma of the urethra.

We report on a 56-year-old woman with irritative voiding symptoms, which started 4 months after undergoing a TVT procedure for stress incontinence (SI). Evidence of the mesh coming through the left bladder wall did not emerge until cysto-urethroscopic examination 2 years after surgery. Excision was done via transurethral cystoscopy with the aid of endoscopic scissors placed through a 5-mm suprapubic port inserted into the dome of the bladder, thus avoiding laparotomy. A Foley catheter was left in for 3 days, and after removal, the patient's symptoms disappeared almost completely.

In a seventy-five-year-old white man gross total painless hematuria developed one year after right radical nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma. CASE PRESENTATION: We present the case of a 51-year-old woman diagnosed with a bladder leiomyoma measuring 8.0 cm in diameter. The tumor was successfully removed through transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TURBT), which was completely recorded on video.

Cystoscopy under white light imaging is the gold standard for bladder cancer diagnosis, but some tumors are difficult to visualize and can be overlooked, resulting in high recurrence rates. Bladder cancer is the fifth most common tumor in men with the incidence of bladder tumors continuing to rise in industrialized and developed countries. Because 80% of all bladder tumors grow on the surface, endoscopic transurethral resection (TUR-B) can be used for complete removal. Due to continuous technical developments and improvements of endoscopic equipment, video imaging and bipolar resection (TUR-IS) offers a high level of safety. Despite optimal equipment, intra- and postoperative complications in transurethral electrosurgery of bladder tumors may occur.
