Perceived acceptability of home-based couples voluntary HIV counseling and testing in Northern Tanzania.

It is estimated that 5.6% of the Tanzanian population ages 15-49 are infected with HIV, but only 30% of adults have ever had an HIV test. Couples' testing has proven to increase testing coverage and introduce HIV prevention, but barriers include access to testing services and unequal gender dynamics in relationships. Innovative approaches are needed to address barriers to couple's testing and increase uptake of HIV testing. Using qualitative data collection methods, a formative study was conducted to assess the acceptability of a home-based couples counseling and testing (HBCCT) approach. Elig

Social cognition and conduct problems: a developmental approach.

OBJECTIVE: To estimate associations between trajectories of conduct problems and social-cognitive competences through childhood into early adolescence. METHOD: A prospective population-based cohort, the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) recruited in the prenatal period (13,988 children alive at 12 months) formed the basis for the current study. Socio-emotional and pragmatic language competences were examined in relation to conduct problem development in a group of 6,047 children with no known autistic-spectrum disorders. Specifically, conduct problem trajectories (low,

Empathic Conversational Agent Platform Designs and Their Evaluation in the Context of Mental Health: Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND: The demand for mental health (MH) services in the community continues to exceed supply. At the same time, technological developments make the use of artificial intelligence-empowered conversational agents (CAs) a real possibility to help fill this gap. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this review was to identify existing empathic CA design architectures within the MH care sector and to assess their technical performance in detecting and responding to user emotions in terms of classification accuracy. In addition, the approaches used to evaluate empathic CAs within the MH care sector in

[Attachment Based Short Intervention During Inpatient Treatment of Adolescents].

Attachment Based Short Intervention During Inpatient Treatment of Adolescents In clinical attachment research the established and economic Adult Attachment Projective Picture System (AAP) has been increasingly used in the past few years to assess the attachment representations in adults and recent studies demonstrated sufficient validity for assessing attachment representations in adolescents. Apart from coding attachment classifications, the AAP provides useful and clinically valid information concerning attachment related defences, aspects of capacity to act and synchrony in relationships an

Early life trauma is associated with altered white matter integrity and affective control.

Early life trauma (ELT) has been shown to impair affective control and attention well into adulthood. Neuroimaging studies have further shown that ELT was associated with decreased white matter integrity in the prefrontal areas in children and adults. However, no study to date has looked at the relationship between white matter integrity and affective control in individuals with and without a history of ELT. To examine this, we tested 240 Veterans with (ELT N = 80) and without (NoELT N = 160) a history of childhood sexual abuse, physical abuse or family violence. Affective control was measured

Improvement in social deficits in autism spectrum disorders using a theatre-based, peer-mediated intervention.

Social Emotional NeuroScience Endocrinology Theatre is a novel intervention program aimed at improving reciprocal social interaction in youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) using behavioral strategies and theatrical techniques in a peer-mediated model. Previous research using a 3-month model showed improvement in face perception, social interaction, and reductions in stress. The current study assessed a 2-week summer camp model. Typically developing peers were trained and paired with ASD youth (8-17 years). Social perception and interaction skills were measured before and after treatment

Young children's self-reported emotional, behavioral, and peer problems: the Berkeley Puppet Interview.

Adult observers are typically the only informants on emotional and behavioral problems in young children. Although additional information can be provided by child self-report, few validated, structured instruments are available to obtain self-report from young children. The Berkeley Puppet Interview (BPI) has been developed to obtain structured self-reports on multiple domains of mental health and social well-being. This study was the 1st to evaluate the psychometric properties of the BPI in a large sample. We studied 8 a priori scales of the interview in a Dutch community sample of 6,375 chil

The impact of AI chatbot service quality on consumer purchase intention: the cognitive and affective mediating mechanisms.

INTRODUCTION: The increasing prevalence of artificial intelligence chatbots in e-commerce raises questions about how the service quality dimensions of AI chatbots may influence consumer purchase intentions. Drawing on Expectation-Confirmation Theory, the Information Systems Success Model, and the Technology Acceptance Model, this study proposes a conceptual framework to examine these relationships. METHODS: Survey data were collected from 493 Chinese consumers with prior experience using AI chatbots. The study examined perceived personalization, social presence, information quality, and human

Identifying Key Predictors of Smoking Cessation Success: Text-Based Feature Selection Using a Large Language Model.

INTRODUCTION: The most effective way to reduce mortality and morbidity among current smokers is to quit smoking. Although about half of smokers attempted to quit, only one-tenth succeeded in 2022. Understanding key predictors of smoking cessation success would inform smoking cessation interventions and increase quitting rates. METHODS: We analyzed data from waves 5 and 6 of the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) study (December 2018 to November 2021). Using OpenAI's GPT-4.1, we identified the top 45 variables from wave 5 that are highly predictive of 12-month smoking abstinenc

Designing conversational intelligence: effect of large language models (GPT-driven) platforms for precision maternal and newborn health engagement: a systematic review.

Maternal and newborn mortality remain stubbornly high in low-resource settings, driven by limited access to timely, personalized and emotionally supportive care during pregnancy. Large language models/generative pre-trained transformer (LLM/GPTs), particularly GPT-driven conversational agents, have emerged as scalable, versatile digital health tools capable of delivering evidence-based information, mental health support and risk stratification for complications such as preeclampsia, gestational diabetes and preterm birth. This systematic review aimed to synthesize global evidence on the design

Breaking the medication overuse headache cycle: from nociplastic pain mechanisms to patient-centered interventions - the Junior Editorial Board vision.

BACKGROUND: Medication-overuse headache (MOH) is a prevalent and disabling secondary headache disorder that arises in individuals with a pre-existing primary headache as a consequence of regular overuse of acute medications. Increasing evidence suggests that MOH shares fundamental pathophysiological and behavioural features with nociplastic pain conditions, supporting the view that it cannot be explained solely as a pharmacological complication. Rather, MOH appears to reflect complex interactions between neurobiological vulnerability, maladaptive neuroplasticity, and behavioural factors. In th

Cognition, internalizing symptoms and neonatal cingulate-amygdala interaction in children born very low birth weight.

INTRODUCTION: Children born with very low birth weight are at increased risk of cognitive difficulties and internalizing symptoms, including anxiety, withdrawal, and depressive features. However, the early neurodevelopmental pathways that connect neonatal brain maturation with emotional outcomes remain incompletely understood. This study examined whether internalizing symptoms at preschool age are associated with cognitive performance in children born with very low birth weight, and whether the interaction between cingulate and amygdala volumes is related to these symptoms directly or through
