PURPOSE: The aims of the present study were: (a) to identify the incidence of osteoarthritis (OA) after a traumatic knee injury; (b) identify the risk of post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) based on the type of injury; and (c) identify the time from injury to OA diagnosis.

There have been conflicting reports regarding the outcomes of lateral release when used in the management of patellofemoral instability. This systematic review and meta-analysis therefore aims to evaluate the outcomes of isolated lateral release in the management of patellofemoral instability. The review was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. All studies that reported the outcomes of isolated lateral release for recurrent patellofemoral dislocations were included. A total of 10 publications were included, with 204 knees.

We sought to summarize knee injuries (KI) in the U.S. Active Duty Army (ADA) in terms of absolute numbers, examine current rate trends, and identify ADA who were at increased risk for experiencing a KI. We used the Total Army Injury and Health Outcomes Database (TAIHOD) to compute unadjusted and adjusted rates of KI, categorized by the Barell Matrix, within the ADA for the years 2000-2005. Two hundred fifty-six primary cementless meniscal-bearing total knee arthroplasties were performed between May 1985 and January 1989. All knees were replaced with a low contact stress metal-backed anatomic mobile patella. The average patient follow-up was 11.5 years. The question of patellar thickness after total knee replacement (TKR) is an important issue. From November 1989 to June 1993, a total of 294 TKR were performed on 219 patients (34 males, 185 females) with an average age of 67 years.
