In three studies, we examined the effect of shifting from a negative to a positive inference for a negative personal event, on mood, state rumination, and next-day inferences, and assessed whether trait brooding moderates these effects. Participants described a personal event and made two inferences for it. BACKGROUND: Current literature on age-specific risk factors for suicide in older adulthood is lacking. One risk factor for younger-life suicide, rumination, has not been extensively studied in older adults, but from prior research, may be more relevant to late-life vs. early life suicide. This work describes an open dataset of acoustic recordings of the foraging behavior of dairy cows. Rumination is a widely recognized cognitive deviation in depression. This cross-sectional study examined the effect of trait resilience and specific types of rumination on positive psychological adaptation post-diagnosis among 201 breast cancer patients.
