Occupational therapists' perceptions of the feasibility of using tele-assessment for remote prescription of assistive devices in Singapore: A qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Occupational therapists (OT) assess and prescribe assistive devices to older adults with limitations in performing daily living activities. Timely prescription of assistive devices to accommodate the rising demand has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Tele-assessment allows for continuity of care, but its success depends on therapists' acceptance. OBJECTIVE: This study examined OTs' perceptions of the feasibility of conducting tele-assessment and developing a clinical practice guideline for remote prescription of assistive devices for older adults in Singapore. METHODS: Eli

A participatory research approach in community pharmacy research: The case for video-reflexive ethnography.

Video-reflexive ethnography (VRE) is a qualitative methodology that explores the complex nature of healthcare 'as it really is'. Its collaborative and reflexive process invites stakeholders (e.g. pharmacists and pharmacy support staff) to participate in analysing their everyday work practices as captured on video footage. Through close collaboration with practitioners and attention to their work contexts, VRE may be a useful methodology to engage a time-poor pharmacy workforce in research about themselves, encouraging more practitioner involvement in practice-based research. Aside from researc

A mixed-methods study of community dog management and rabies awareness in Thailand.

Rabies elimination requires coordinated interventions across the human-animal-environment interface, yet sustained progress is often hindered by systemic gaps between dog population management, community engagement, and governance. This study investigated community perceptions and challenges related to rabies prevention and control across high-endemic areas in Thailand. Using a mixed-methods design, secondary provincial quantitative data were integrated with qualitative thematic analysis from 57 stakeholders in high endemic areas, including public health officials, policymakers, NGOs, animal-w

Integrating occupational cancer detection into hospital care? An intervention research to improve blood cancer patient care in France (GISCOPE 84).

SETTING: While carcinogenic exposures affect half of European workers, occupational cancers remain strongly underreported. In France, the occupational diseases (OD) compensation system is ill-adapted for cancer patients, leaving work-related cancers socially and politically invisible. The identification of patients with occupational cancer and their support in compensation claims are neglected aspects of cancer care. INTERVENTION: Since 2018, GISCOPE 84 runs a two-tiered intervention: 1. A cohort-like survey with blood cancer (non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloma) patients diagnosed at the Vauc

Acceptability of advanced Controlled Human Infection Models: The case of a pneumococcal challenge in people living with HIV and mycobacterial challenge with Bacillus Calmette Guerin in Malawi.

Controlled Human Infection Models (CHIM) in which volunteers are experimentally exposed to pathogens are used to study pathogenesis and down select among treatment and vaccine candidates. Scientifically, CHIM studies are best conducted among at-risk populations in which the infection is endemic, and who are likely to benefit from new interventions tested. Ethically, the perspectives of these communities should be carefully considered in designing such research. CHIM studies are often conducted among healthy adults, but we wished to understand study participant's and community views on conducti

Administrative perspectives on the implementation and sustainability of state-supported health insurance schemes in Nigeria: a descriptive qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Since the state-supported health insurance schemes (SSHIS) began in Nigeria, the perspectives of implementers and other administrative actors have been under-documented in the program evaluations. Bridging this information gap is crucial to addressing the challenges impeding the scheme's impact. This study, therefore, investigated the administrative stakeholders' perspective on the implementation and sustainability of the SSHIS in Nigeria. METHODS: This study adopted a descriptive qualitative case study design and was conducted in six Nigerian states with functional SSHIS, each re
