Using digital subtraction angiocardiography left ventricular (LV) function and mean pulmonary artery pressure (PPA) at rest and during exercise were examined in 49 patients with aortic valve disease, 23 patients with aortic stenosis (AS), 12 patients with combined aortic valve lesions (kAV) and 14 patients with aortic regurgitation (AI). The feasibility of performing rapid sequential first pass radionuclide angiocardiography using a new short-lived radiotracer, gold-195m (195mAu) half-life 30.5 seconds) was evaluated. This radionuclide emits a 262 keV gamma ray and is the daughter of mercury-195 (195mHg) (half-life 41.6 hours). Ionizing radiation is known as a classical mutagen capable of inducing various kinds of stable and unstable chromosomal aberrations. First pass radionuclide angiocardiography was utilized to calculate right and left ventricular ejection fraction in 74 infants and children. A paralysis of the left vocal cord was seen by laryngoscopy in a 3-days-old boy with inspiratory stridor. A ductus aneurysm was established by angiocardiography, which was believed to be the cause of the vocal cord paralysis. Within 8 days after the angiocardiography the aneurysm became smaller and the stridor disappeared. Twelfth months later the control-angiocardiography showed the total obliteration of the ductal aneurysm.
