The associations between serum zinc and copper concentrations and anthropometric variables in 3415 3-, 6-, 9-, 12-, 15-, and 18-y-old Finnish girls and boys were investigated to identify groups with low serum zinc or copper concentrations and retarded growth, possibly suggesting deficiencies. Serum zinc levels and height, wt, body mass index, and skinfold thickness were not strongly related. Serum copper levels were negatively correlated with height and positively with wt, body mass index, and skinfold thickness. The video distortion method on a life-size screen is a new method for studying eating disordered patients' estimations of their own body width. Testing this method in female patients (53 with anorexia nervosa, 38 with bulimia nervosa) and 36 normal females, yielded high to very high reliability scores (consistency and test-retest stability). The purpose of this study was to examine both perceived and ideal body-image to establish if the process of adolescence was a contributory factor. A distorting mirror and silhouette pictures were used to examine the image in two groups of 59 pre- and 41 postadolescent girls.
