A 69-year-old woman suffered subarachnoid hemorrhage due to rupture of an aneurysm at the tip of the basilar artery. The aneurysm was treated by endovascular treatment using Guglielmi detachable coils but the aneurysm dome could not be completely packed. Serial angiography at 10 and 18 months after embolization showed progressive regrowth of the aneurysm with loosening and unraveling of the packed coils. An unusual case of oronasal foreign body in a child is reported. A plain lateral X-ray of the head was carried out to show the shape and position of the foreign body; it was also useful in planning removal. Ribbon gauze impregnated with vaseline was packed around the sharp end of the metal in the nostril to protect the nasal mucosa from further trauma while removing it. We recommend this technique.

Dendrite formation on Li metal anodes hinders commercialization of more energy-dense rechargeable batteries. Here, we use the migration energy barrier (MEB) for surface transport as a descriptor for dendrite nucleation and compare Li to Mg. Density functional theory calculations show that the MEB for the hexagonal close-packed structure is 40 and 270 meV lower than that of the body-centered cubic structure for Li and Mg, respectively. Body-packer syndrome is the Anglo-american term for intracorporeal transport of drugs packed in rubber or plastic containers. The most serious complications of this syndrome are ileus and acute intoxication with the smuggled drugs. In case of sudden disorders without any other detectable reasons, in particular in drug dependent subjects, it is important to consider the possibility of body-packer syndrome. In future a rising incidence of this syndrome must be foreseen in the Czech Republic.

There is a dichotomy between calories issued to soldiers in their daily field rations and the amounts actually consumed. Soldiers frequently consume insufficient calories to maintain body weight. BACKGROUND: Our aim was to determine whether maternal smoking and offspring's own smoking affect the offspring's risk for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS).
METHOD: The study sample consisted of the Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1966 (N = 8703). Information on maternal smoking was collected from the participants' mothers. At 31 years, information on smoking, body mass index, socioeconomic status, and long-term illnesses were collected, combined with data of CTS diagnoses from the Care Register for Health Care (1997-2016).
