[Pediatric dentistry and dental fear].

The development of dental anxiety is often related to dental experiences in the childhood. A. study (3) from Copenhagen shows that among 20-21-year-old Danes, 37% had a negative assessment of child dental care and 14% had phobic reactions to dental care. The article examines factors which could have influence on the psychologic atmosphere in the clinic and in this way the psychologic reactions of the child. Oral diseases and veterinary dentistry.

Oropharyngeal disease is common in dogs and cats. Signs are seldom apparent to the owner until the disease is well advanced, and often are not specific for a particular disease. Signs include inappetence, pawing at the mouth, drooling of saliva, dysphagia, and halitosis. These signs can result from primary oral disease, or from effects of systemic or skin disease. Oral examination requires a cooperative patient; sedation may be necessary so that the entire oral cavity can be examined without causing the animal pain or risking injury to the examiner.

Periodontal considerations in operative dentistry.

Periodontal and preventive considerations, other marginal fit and occlusion, are discussed as they relate to the fabrication of restorations in operative dentistry. The development of buccal, lingual, proximal, and transitional line contours is presented as related to maintenance of healthy periodontal tissues. Proximal contacts and marginal ridge relationships are related to food retention and arch integrity. The gingival attachment is described, as it determines certain techniques of tooth preparation and impression making.

Eponyms in Dentistry - Physiology and Pathology.

Do you ever wonder who is behind the names, diseases, structures, procedures, or syndromes often taught in dental or medical school? For instance, the Cusp of Carabelli on a maxillary molar, the Wharton duct of the submandibular gland, or the Eustachian tube that gives the perception of a stuffed ear before landing are three structures named after individuals who first described them centuries ago. This is a long-overdue exploration of 60 names for 53 of the most relevant eponyms, many of whom have likely been forgotten.I.

Application of Corticosteroids in Dentistry: A Review.

Corticosteroids are crucial in dentistry for their anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, aiding in managing conditions such as oral lichen planus, recurrent aphthous stomatitis, and post-operative inflammation. By inhibiting pro-inflammatory mediators and immune cell activity, they offer significant symptomatic relief and promote healing. However, potential systemic and local side effects necessitate cautious application. This article explores the use of corticosteroids in routine dental practice.
