Urodynamic findings, and in particular measures of outflow obstruction in a consecutive series of 156 women presenting with recurrent increased frequency and dysuria, have been analysed. Poor correlation between these various measures has been demonstrated; at most only 8% of these patients have demonstrable outflow obstruction. More than a quarter of the patients had bladder instability.

Pheochromocytomas are catecholamine-secreting tumors that can present as a surgical emergency, with a mortality rate as high as 15%. When these lesions present as a crisis, diagnosis and management can be very challenging, given the profound physiologic consequences, such as cardiovascular collapse or multiple organ failure, occurring over a rapid time frame. We present a case of disseminated coccidioidomycosis with formation of a prostatic abscess in a 28-year-old diabetic male. Though rare, Coccidiodes prostatitis should be included in the differential for patients who have spent time in endemic areas and present with prostatitis or other genitourinary tract symptoms, especially in the setting of immunocompromise. The small number of Coccidiodes prostatitis cases described in the literature previously are reviewed, along with a wider discussion of coccidioidomycosis. Treatment modalities for this challenging fungal disease are also discussed.

Abnormalities of the lower urinary tract resulting from cesarean section are rare. We present a patient who developed urinary frequency, nocturia and acute pains in the late phase of micturition which we think was due to bladder distortion after repeat cesarean section. She was diagnosed cystographically and treated successfully by bladder flap release.

Following transurethral electroresection of prostatic adenomas 31 patients, had persistent postoperative complaints which were difficult to influence by drugs. This was despite the absence residual urine, were due to histologically identified concomitant prostatitis and current-induced damage and could be prevented by open prostatectomy in another 35 patients--even with very small prostatic adenomas.

A proctocol to be administered by nurses for the management of dysuria, frequent urination, and vaginal discharge was validated. In a randomized, controlled trial, 146 women were seen by both nurse and physician and then assigned to either the nurse-proctocol treatment plan or the physician treatment plan.
