Four patients with central melting perforating corneal ulcers were treated by n-butylcyano acrylate gluing of the ulcer region. The glue facilitated healing of the eyes, and when the glue scaled off weeks later the corneas were left with stable leucomas. The glue membrane appears to prevent tear-borne polymorphonuclear leucocytes (PML) from reaching the ulcer region and to diminish activation of PML, with the consequent dramatic fall in tear fluid polymorphonuclear leucocyte neutral collagenolytic protease (PML-c-ase). BACKGROUND: The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) guidelines recommend thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) for blunt traumatic aortic injuries (BTAI) in adults, especially BTAI grades II to IV. PURPOSE: To compare the use of new cyanoacrylate surgical adhesive associated with macroporous tapes in cutaneous synthesis.
METHODS: Male Wistar rats with a longitudinal incision of 4cm were used on the back, divided into four groups: GI used octyl-cyanoacrylate (Dermabond®), GII used N-2-butylcyanoacrylate, GIII used octyl-cyanoacrylate and macroporous tape and GIV used N-2-butyl cyanoacrylate and macroporous tape. On the fourteenth day, the rats were submitted to euthanasia, were divided in two parts, and a layer of skin subcutaneous tissue through an area of operative healing was removed.

A 49-year-old man was admitted to our hospital complaining of severe epigastric pain. Contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography revealed an arteriovenous malformation of the pancreatic uncus. Because of unbearable epigastric pain, transcatheter arterial embolization was performed with n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate. Subsequently, his symptoms fully resolved; no recurrence of the arteriovenous malformation was seen more than 1 year after the embolization.

A patient with Polyarteritis Nodosa presented with abdominal pain and low hematocrit level. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) depicted the presence of free blood and CT angiography revealed two aneurysms in the inferior branch of the splenic artery that were subsequently treated by endovascular transarterial embolization with N-Butyl Cyanoacrylate. Post embolization splenic arteriography demonstrated complete embolization of both aneurysms, including the inflow and outflow vessels.
