Chondromyxoid fibroma is a rare benign tumour whose histological appearance may easily be misinterpreted as chondrosarcoma. It has a tendency to recur locally unless completely excised. A rare case of the tumour affecting the nasal bone with extension into the frontal and ethmoidal sinuses and impingement on the cribiform plate is presented. Complete excision was achieved by the craniofacial resection approach.

PURPOSE: Osteomyelitis of the frontal bone, which accompanies the soft-tissue infection, is rare but may be fatal. The origin of infection is commonly associated with sinusitis; however, it is hard to localize. Once it develops, treatment strategies need to include eradication of infected tissue, radical wide debridement, and reconstruction planning. Sarcoidosis is a multisystem granulomatous disorder that can rarely involve bone, particularly the skull, where lesions may closely resemble malignant or infectious processes. Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic granulomatous disease of unknown origin. It has been argued that the skin is one of the entry doors of the possible antigen that causes sarcoidosis and after entering the skin, the causal agent may progress to the underlying bone. Osteomyelitis of the skull is a particularly life-threatening condition. Infections are usually at the base of the skull and typically occur following dissemination from another site, such as the external auditory canal. Typical organisms include Pseudomonas and Staphylococcus species. This paper demonstrates an unusual case of osteomyelitis of the frontoparietal bone, as well as the first published case of Providencia rettgeri causing cranial osteomyelitis in humans.

Solitary plasmocytoma of bone is a rare type of plasma cell tumor. We present a case of a solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma of the frontal bone presenting as an asymptomatic forehead lump with clinically benign characteristics. This case highlights the need for a high index of suspicion when dealing with enlarging subcutaneous lumps of the forehead and scalp. The significance of this lies in the appropriate sequencing of investigations and the implementation of the necessary treatment regimen.

Distraction of the frontal bone outside the cranial plane using the Ilizarov principle was performed in 17 22-week-old New Zealand white rabbits. BACKGROUND: The authors describe a technique for repairing the frontal sinus with autologous bone grafts removed during craniotomy and fibrin glue.
METHODS: This technique was used in 12 patients who underwent craniotomy for aneurysms (n = 9), brain tumors (n = 2), and acute epidural hematoma (n = 1).
RESULTS: The repair was successful in all cases. There were no instances of postoperative infection or leakage of cerebrospinal fluid. No complications from the repair have occurred over a mean follow-up of 51 months.
