An excess of growth hormone (GH) results in accelerated growth and in childhood, the clinical manifestation is gigantism. When GH excess has its onset after epiphyseal fusion at puberty, the overgrowth of soft tissue and bone results in acromegaly. Persistent GH excess in gigantism also causes acromegalic features that become evident in the adult years. We have studied infection of Cryptococcus neoformans in the non-vertebrate host Galleria mellonella with particular interest in the morphological response of the yeast. Inoculation of C. neoformans in caterpillars induced a capsule-independent increase in haemocyte density 2 h after infection. C. neoformans manifested a significant increase in capsule size after inoculation into the caterpillar. The magnitude of capsule increase depended on the temperature, being more pronounced at 37°C than at 30°C, which correlated with an increased virulence of the fungus and reduced phagocytosis at 37°C. Gigantism of the lower limb can occur because of plexiform neurofibromas. This condition is seen with café au lait patches and multiple neurofibromatosis in this case of von Recklinghausen neurofibromatosis. We report our patient and review literature of this uncommon condition.

A new case of the fetal gigantism-renal hamartomas-nephroblastomatosis syndrome is described, in which a Wilms' tumor occurred. It is considered that this observation provides strong evidence for the interrelationship between renal dysplasia and renal neoplasia.

Postoperative pseudomeningocele is a rare, but still existing, complication after spinal surgeries. It may be asymptomatic or presented with back pain, radicular pain or headaches. Complicated or unusual cases appear in clinical practice. It's important to know how to react when we face clinical difficulty. The more unusual the case, the longer or more demanding the decision-making process is. In this case we present a patient with a gigantic ovarian tumor whose diagnosis was overturned, and the choice of the surgical procedure changed, which makes this case a very educative example of why we should consult our patients, whenever we may encounter doubts or difficulties in a therapeutic process.

Aortic pseudoaneurysms can be a potentially fatal, yet rare, complication of heart surgery. Surgery is indicated but is high risk during sternotomy. Therefore, careful planning is required. We report the case of a 57-year-old patient who underwent heart surgery twice in the past and who presented with an ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm. A successful repair of the pseudoaneurysm was performed under deep hypothermia, left ventricular apical venting, periods of circulatory arrest and endoaortic balloon occlusion.

INTRODUCTION: Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common benign salivary gland tumor. When neglected on some occasions, its size and weight can enormously augment.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of a giant submandibular pleomorphic adenoma in a 75 years old female patient which measured 34 × 26 × 20 cm and weighed 8.1 kg.
CONCLUSION: Neglecting such tumors without treatment, can cause severe facial disfigurement and can even hinder the airway.

Bone metastasis of gastric cancer is relatively uncommon in clinical practice. Moreover, it is all the more unusual for the primary presentation of gastric malignancy to be bone metastasis.
