Endocochlear potentials (EPs) were investigated in healthy guinea pigs and in those exposed to white noise of 125 dB SPL for 20-80 min. EPs were measured during and after temporary anoxia (3.5 min, denoted as reversible anoxia) and then during continuous anoxia to evaluate noise-induced changes in EP properties. This study evaluated the content of cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), and nickel (Ni) in 105 hair care products commercially available in Turkey. Cd, Pb, and Ni were detected in 40%, 21.91%, and 94.29% of the samples, respectively. A 75-year-old woman presented with a 3-year history of progressive loss of her eyebrow hair and with frontal-parietal hairline recession. Multiple biopsy specimens supported a histopathologic diagnosis of lichen planopilaris. With these histolopathologic findings, and the patient's clinical presentation, a diagnosis of frontal fibrosing alopecia was made. Treatment to date with topical glucocorticoid preparations, intralesional triamcinolone injections, and tacrolimus ointment have been unsuccessful.
