The authors conducted a mycologic, immunochemical and molecular biology study on two strains of Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, one of them, called IBIA, isolated from soil in the municipality of IBIA (Minas Gerais) by Silva-Vergara et al. Dendritic fibromyxolipoma, a rare subtype of lipoma, mainly occurs in the neck, back, and chest wall. Here, we describe the first reported case located in the parotid gland. Leiomyoma of vulva is rare, and usually misdiagnosed clinically as Bartholin cyst. It usually presents spindle-shaped tumor cells, but some rare cases consisted mainly of atypical epithelioid tumor cells. Immunoproliferative small intestinal disease (IPSID), also known as alpha chain disease, is a rare disease. We report a case of myeloid sarcoma of the brain mimicking a meningioma on CT scan. The lesion was first morphologically misdiagnosed as a lymphoma, but correctly identified by using immunochemistry with anti-myeloperoxidase, anti-CD68, anti-CD15 antibodies. Periplasmic hydrogenase [hydrogen:ferricytochrome c3 oxidoreductase, EC 1.12.2.1] from Desulfovibrio vulgaris Miyazaki K (MK) was purified to homogeneity. Localization of substance P (SP)-like immunoreactivity in the anterior eye segment of the squirrel was examined immunohistochemically. The present study demonstrates a dense network of SP-positive fibers in the ciliary body, particularly in the muscle layers, and several SP-positive fibers in the iris, in addition to scattered SP-positive fibers in the cornea. These facts strongly suggest that SP has an important role in the physiologic functions of the anterior eye segment.
