In this study, a conductometric titration method is proposed for the determination of phenothiazine derivatives in pure and dosage forms. The measurements were carried out in aqueous solution using sodium arsenite as titrant. The breaks in conductometric titration curves have been advantageously utilised for the quantitative determination of these drugs in pharmaceutical preparations. The method was found highly accurate and precise, having a relative standard deviation of less than 1.0% for all solutions containing from 1 to 25 mg of phenothiazine derivative compounds.

A glass rod (5-20 cm long, 2 mm o.d.) containing more than 1200 parallel microchannels (< 40 microns i.d.) was converted into a high-resolution (> 100 theoretical plates cm-1) GC column by coating the inside of each channel in a way that compensated for the dispersion of the channel inner diameter. The columns were evaluated for the separation of mixtures of several organometallic (Hg, Sn, Pb) compounds prior to on-line sensitive metalselective detection by ICPMS. Chromatographic separation conditions were optimized to enable a rapid (within a maximum 30 s) multielemental speciation analysis.

A method is described for the determination of the concentration of methyl ethyl ketone and its metabolites: 2-butanol, 3-hydroxy-2-butanone and the meso- and d,l-isomers of 2,3-butanediol in urine. The analytes were isolated from urine by solid-phase extraction and analysed by capillary gas chromatography. The recovery rates were 50-70% for the 2,3-butanediol isomers and 88-96% for the other analytes. The precision of the method ranged from 5 to 12% (S.D.%). An automated capillary column gas chromatography electron-impact mass selective detection method has been developed for the determination of a major tranquilizing agent, fluphenazine. Using a new purification method and incorporating a deuterated internal reference, a limit of quantitation of 50 pg per ml of plasma was obtained.

Solutions of KCN in 0.1 mol/liter NaOH, stored for six months at 4 degrees C, were unchanged as determined by silver titration and color development with pyridine-pyrazalone reagent.
