BACKGROUND: Adult-type rhabdomyoma (ATR) is a rare mesenchymal tumor of skeletal muscle differentiation. Extracardiac ATR occurs most commonly in the head and neck, but do so in a heterogeneous fashion, arising at numerous different locations within this region.
METHODS: At our institution, we encountered a patient who was diagnosed clinically with parathyroid adenoma based on signs and symptoms of hyperparathyroidism and suggestive radiologic findings. A parathyroidectomy with intraoperative consultation was performed.

Endoscopic endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (EE-DCR) is an effective treatment for dacryocystitis. Aneurysmal rupture is generally not considered a complication of EE-DCR under general anesthesia. Here, we present a patient with intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhage secondary to the rupture of an undiagnosed intracranial aneurysm during EE-DCR. We present the case of a 34-year-old woman who was diagnosed to have adenocarcinoma of the caecum based on the clinical, radiological, histopathological and intraoperative findings. However, postoperative histopathology showed only features of xanthogranulomatous inflammation without any evidence of malignancy. This benign chronic inflammatory condition could present as a histological surprise. It is important for both surgeons and pathologists alike to be aware of this.

A 37-year-old man with Klippel-Trénaunay syndrome presented with an episode of painless severe gross hematuria. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed vessels of significant diameter in the bladder wall. Diagnostic imaging is mandatory in order to be aware of the extent of the lesion as the bleeding identified intraoperatively may only be the "tip of the iceberg."
