In 18 patients with a ruptured aneurysm of the anterior communicating artery on the circle of Willis hypothalamuc-pituitary-adrenal function has been assessed by the diurnal variation in plasma cortisol levels and by the response to metyrapone, dexamethasone, and pyrogen.
