The authors describe a rare clinical observation: development of the serous papillary cystadenoma of the borderline malignancy in the rectum in a 53 year-old women. 20 years ago she was operated on and bilateral ovarian tumors were removed. The authors regard the tumor of the rectum to have arisen de novo. The hypothesis of local origin of the tumor is supported by the fact that no remnants of any tumor were found in the tissues adjacent to the rectum. The major part of the tumor was presented by the benign structures identical to the cellular composition of the normal fallopian tube mucosa. P

Patterns of small bowel involvement from primary neoplasms elsewhere in the body were studied in order to determine whether the location of the lesions or their radiological appearance could provide criteria for distinguishing secondary from primary lesions. Multiplicity of lesions and the finding of "transverse stretch" were found to be highly indicative of secondary neoplastic involvement of the small bowel.

CASE DESCRIPTION: An 11-year-old castrated male Vizsla was evaluated for excision of a cranial mediastinal mass.
CLINICAL FINDINGS: The dog had a 1-month history of a cough that had recently increased in frequency. On physical examination, the dog had a grade 2/6 left systolic heart murmur and multiple subcutaneous masses. A soft tissue mass was observed in the cranioventral aspect of the thorax on radiographs. A 73 year old woman was admitted to hospital because of an anterior mediastinal mass. For definite diagnosis, needle biopsy was performed under fluoroscopic observation. The histopathological diagnosis was thymoma and combination chemotherapy was given. The tumour almost completely disappeared and the patient was discharged. But the tumour recurred in the left anterior chest wall four months later. It is suggested that the thymoma tissue had been implanted in the needle tract.

We report the case of a woman who had been operated upon for a recurrent meningioma of the falx cerebri which, 22 years after it was discovered, produced pulmonary metastases. Metastases from meningiomas are extremely rare; they affect the lungs in 60% of the cases or, less frequently, the liver or lymph nodes. The factors predictive of secondary dissemination are the site of the tumour, the quality of excision, the histological type (haemangiopericytic meningioma) and the presence of cell necrosis, hypercellularity and strong mitotic activity.
