OBJECTIVE: International guidelines recommend that preterm infants should be supported to maintain their serum electrolytes within "normal" ranges. In term babies, cord blood values differed in pathological pregnancies from healthy ones.
STUDY DESIGN: We examined cord blood sodium, chloride, potassium, glucose, and creatinine to derive maturity-related reference intervals. We examined associations with gestational age, delivery mode, singleton versus multiple, and prenatal maternal adverse conditions. We compared preterm cord values to term, and to adult reference ranges.

PATIENTS AND METHODS: Selective termination by transvaginal ultrasound-guided intrathoracic injection of potassium chloride (KC1) was performed between 8 and 10 weeks' gestation in eight women with multiple gestation after ovulation induction (6/8) or in vitro fertilization (IVF) (2/8).
RESULTS: Four patients have delivered uneventfully at term, one delivered prematurely at 34 weeks' gestation with good neonatal outcome, and the other 3 patients lead a smooth pregnancy at present. No pregnancy loss or any major complication was found.

The potassium-chloride cotransporter 2 (KCC2) is required for neuronal development, and KCC2 dysregulation is implicated in several neurodevelopmental disorders, including schizophrenia, autism, and epilepsy. OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate the outcome of intralesional management and show the safety of local treatment of cornual pregnancy.
METHODS: Eight patients were treated with local methotrexate or potassium chloride injection. All patients underwent transvaginal ultrasound examination and were diagnosed by the criteria defined by Timor-Tritsch. In the case of fetal heart beat observation, potassium chloride was injected; and in the case of no heart beat detection, methotrexate was used. A follicle aspiration needle was inserted directly into the gestational sac under transvaginal guidance.
