The expression of p34cdc2 has been examined in normal, hyperplastic, and malignant oral epithelia and lymphoid tissues. Four monoclonal antibodies were prepared against Xenopus p34cdc2, three of which react specifically with human p34cdc2 and not with p33cdk2. These produced similar patterns of staining in both fixed and frozen sections of human material. Staining occurred mainly in the proliferative compartments of normal and hyperplastic tissues. Hematogenous spread from carcinoma of tonsil is an uncommon event and skin is an extremely rare site of metastasis. We encountered a 40-year-old male patient who initially presented with carcinoma of the tonsil with T3N2cMO disease and treated by curative radiotherapy. After about 2 years, he developed a skin lesion in the periorbital region which on cytological examination turned out to be metastasis from tonsillar carcinoma. The present paper describes this rare case report along with a brief review of the literature.

INTRODUCTION: We aim to evaluate our experience of tonsil biopsies in the investigation of patients presenting with asymmetrical tonsils.
METHODS: A two-centre retrospective analysis of all patients who underwent histology sampling of the palatine tonsils between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2018 was completed. Data collected included patient demographics, method of obtaining tonsil tissue, histological diagnosis and need for repeat tissue sampling. A follow-up period of 36 months was allowed to establish whether any patients re-presented with missed diagnoses.

Osteoradionecrosis (ORN) is a rare but serious late complication of head and neck radiation therapy. The mandible, proximity of the primary tumor to the jawbones, radiation dose, poor oral hygiene, and smoking history are risk factors of ORN. From 1989 to 1991, 126 tonsils were prospectively studied in cadavers, volunteers and patients by B-scan ultrasonography. The transducer was positioned just medial of the mandibular angle. This case report discusses a 12-year-old West Highland White Terrier presented to the veterinary clinic with reverse sneezing and oral dysphagia. The endoscopic examination of the upper respiratory tract revealed a mass in the area of the right tonsil. Histologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of a malignant pilomatrixoma. Metastatic carcinoma of the palatine tonsil is unusual. The most common primary sites of the tonsillar metastasis are the kidney, cutaneous melanoma, lung and breast. Primary manifestation of these tumors as a tonsillar mass is extremely rare in the literature. We present a case with a tonsillar metastasis from unusually localized primary signet ring-cell carcinoma of the cecum.

We evaluated immunohistochemically the expression profiles of metastasis-associated protein (MTA) 1 and their associations with lymph node metastasis in tonsil cancer. Immunohistochemical analysis of 43 tonsillar neoplasm tissues was performed using antibodies raised to MTA1. Depth of tumor invasion, lymph node metastasis, and clinical outcomes were assessed.
